Locking tabs hold the body tightly, but release in just seconds to access the chassis. High-flying stunts and 60+ mph desert speed runs won’t upset Raptor R’s tough clipless body. Now, don’t think that we’re going to swap the real steering wheel to exclusively play with a remote control, but it’s mesmerizing to see the level of attention to detail. What’s crucial here is to understand that these little contraptions seem a lot closer to being like their real counterparts than just a few years ago. The actual winner is clearly not important, just like the fact that Traxxas chose to add a rumbling V8 engine soundtrack over the footage of a couple of electric scale model trucks. That’s pretty much obvious (and probably a lot of fun) from the video embedded below. Or, at least, the scale model interpretation of quarter-mile runs. After all, the Velineon 3500kV brushless electric motor seems quite capable of performing heart-stopping quarter-mile runs. But the width of just 11 inches (279 mm) shouldn’t stop the entertainment from taking place both at the strip and on the street. Granted, it’s also just 22.6 inches (574 mm) long, or some 29.7 inches (754 mm) if you also count the included wheelie bars. After all, you really can’t expect a ‘67 Chevy C10 restomod to cost just $499.5 (it’s arriving in stores right now, according to the manufacturer). Officially licensed by General Motors, the Traxxas Drag Slash is yet another little vehicle that almost makes us give up the pursuit of its real-life, full-size counterpart. ![]()
